The John Jones Memorial Education Fund was established in 2010 to honor Dr. John Jones. The purpose of this initiative is to allocate an annual scholarship contributing to the post-secondary education of one or more rugby players Quebec.<\/span><\/p>\n The funds, under the supervision of the Rugby Canada Foundation, will be used by present future generations of players to pursue their educational goals.<\/span><\/p>\n Dr. John Jones is one of the great personalities of Quebec rugby. Leaving his native country of Australia for Montreal in 1964, John made his rugby debut with the Montreal Irish. A teacher for 31 years at C\u00e9gep Champlain Coll\u00e8ge St Lambert, John was able to inspire the school with a rugby ethic by inaugurating the C\u00e9gep Champlain men’s team in 1979. Five years later, in 1984, John two former Champlains formed the Saint-Lambert Locks rugby club.<\/span><\/p>\n In addition to his role as builder of these two clubs, John saw himself in charge of the national under-19 tournament for men women for a time. In addition, he was the cornerstone of the Quebec Combined Old Boys.<\/span><\/p>\n The Federation would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of this scholarship.
